The Ontario Government introduced the Private Security and Investigative Services Act requiring all persons engaged in these services to become licensed. This includes door security personnel. See Section (5) (a).
The Act is regulated by the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
Every Company and/or Individual now must be licensed and carry insurance. See section (30). As of August 23 2008 all licensed businesses must carry a minimum of $ 2,000,000 see section.
The Act outlines a code of ethics and training. ( see section 53 and 10 b (iii) )

Security guards
(4) A security guard is a person who performs work, for remuneration, that consists primarily of guarding or patrolling for the purpose of protecting persons or property. 2005, c. 34, s. 2 (4).
(5) Examples of the types of work referred to in subsection (4) include,
(a) acting as a bouncer;
Licence to engage in the business
7. (1) No person shall sell the services of private investigators or security guards or hold themself out as available to sell such services, unless,
(a) the person holds the appropriate licence under this Act; or
(b) the person is an employee of a licensee described in clause (a) and is acting on behalf of that licensee in the normal course of his or her duties. 2005, c. 34, s. 7 (1).
Insurance required
30. No person shall hold a licence to engage in the business of selling the services of private investigators or security guards unless that person is insured by an insurer licensed under the Insurance Act for the kinds of liability and in the amounts prescribed. 2005, c. 34, s. 30.
(10) Mandatory requirements
10. (1) No person is eligible to hold a licence under this Act unless,
(b) (iii) the person has successfully completed all prescribed training and testing. 2005, c. 34, s. 10 (1).
Code of conduct 53. (1) The Minister may, by regulation, establish a code of conduct. 2005, c. 34, s. 53 (1).

POSSIBLE CREDIT FOR EXISTING CHES ACCOUNTS
Any account where Insured Security is provided by a Third Party under contract may be entitled to a credit on their Commercial General Liability premium subject to the following:
Door Security is provided by a licensed third party company that carries proper insurance covering all their operations including Door Security.
The Third Party provider must:
Carry equivalent limits as the Insured.
Provide a certificate evidencing insurance for all their operations, including Door Security.
Have the Insured added as an additional insured.
The contract must not contain any hold harmless against the Insured.
Subject to security audit paid by insured.
Where these conditions are met and confirmed by the security audit and CGL for the account is endorsed to add the Forcible Ejection exclusion, a credit can be applied to the account.
